Lion's Mane

Hericium erinaceus

Nature's Brain Booster

Lion's Mane is a remarkable medicinal mushroom used for centuries in traditional medicine. Modern science has revealed its extraordinary ability to stimulate Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) production—a protein essential for the growth, maintenance, and survival of neurons. This makes it invaluable for supporting cognitive health in aging dogs.

Only known natural source of compounds that stimulate NGF
Used for over 1,000 years in traditional Asian medicine
Crosses the blood-brain barrier for direct brain benefits
Supports both neurons and the myelin sheath that protects them

Key Benefits

Discover how Lion's Mane supports your dog's health and longevity

Nerve Growth Factor Stimulation

Contains unique compounds (hericenones and erinacines) that stimulate NGF production, supporting neuron health and regeneration.

Cognitive Support

Helps maintain memory, learning ability, and mental sharpness, particularly valuable for senior dogs showing cognitive changes.

Neuroprotection

Provides antioxidant and anti-inflammatory protection for brain cells, helping shield neurons from age-related damage.

Mood & Behavior

Research suggests positive effects on mood and anxiety, promoting calmer, more balanced behavior.

How It Works

Lion's Mane contains bioactive compounds called hericenones (found in the fruiting body) and erinacines (found in the mycelium) that can cross the blood-brain barrier. Once in the brain, these compounds stimulate the production of Nerve Growth Factor (NGF), which promotes neuron growth, maintenance, and repair. This is remarkable because NGF itself cannot cross the blood-brain barrier when taken as a supplement.

Works Best With:

Phosphatidylserine (cell membrane support)
Bacopa (cognitive synergy)
NMN (neuronal energy)

Dosage Information

Per Chew100 mg
Small Dogs (<25 lbs)100 mg (1 chew)
Medium Dogs (25-50 lbs)200 mg (2 chews)
Large Dogs (>50 lbs)300 mg (3 chews)

Timing: Can be given any time of day, with or without food

Effects build over time. Most noticeable cognitive benefits develop after 4-8 weeks of consistent use.

Safety Profile

Lion's Mane has been consumed as food and medicine for centuries with an excellent safety record. Studies show it is well-tolerated with no significant adverse effects. It's a natural, whole-food ingredient that provides gentle yet effective cognitive support.
